After arrival in Yangon, journey southwards towards Pyay. On the way make a stop at SHWEDAUNG PAYA, a small town which contains two famous payas. Visit one of them, the Shwemyethman Paya, also known as the Paya of the Golden Spectacles. This is a reference to a large, white-faced sitting Buddha inside the main shrine wearing gold-plated glasses, first added to the image during the Konbaung era.
Proceed and overnight in Pyay
Pyay which was formerly named Prom, is located on the eastern bank of Irrawaddy River. The town is recognized as one of importance archaeological sites of Myanmar. Start to discover this fascinating town by visiting a local market, several Sri Ksetra ancient monuments and the corresponding site museum. As for the highlight of the day, visit the SHWESANDAW PAYA, a Buddhist pagoda in the centre of the town. It is said to contain several Buddha’s hairs, as it’s name means Golden Hair Relic.
Overnight in Pyay
Early morning, proceed to the Paduang Village by car. Enjoy visiting the village to see how pottery is being made. Continue to the Kyee Thae Villge, a weaving village, which is located at the east bank of Irrawaddy River. Take a boat to reach Ah Kauk Taung, the Ah Kauk Mountain, which is located the west bank of Irrawaddy River. Enjoy some sightseeing in this area before proceeding to Htone Bo. After a pleasant lunch outside, return to Pyay and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
