The far northern reaches of Vietnam are quite different from the rest of the country and expose a landscape of limestone pinnacles, granite outcrops and rice fields clinging to mountain verges creating spectacular sceneries. The slower pace of life in this region is a necessity to overcome the hard terrain, with hilltribes working hard to provide for daily needs. This adventurous program introduces travelers to local customs and meets with a number of hilltribes in their villages as you trek through the mountainous landscape.
Looming mist covered mountains characterize the region and provide endless opportunities for spectacular photos. From your starting point of Hanoi you will see a change of landscape as your guide drives towards the Chinese border. On reaching your first stop of Tuyen Quang, you will notice the cooler temperatures and have the chance to dine in a local restaurant. After a night at the Pan Hou Lodge, you will undertake a 16km trek to the local hill tribe village of Phin Ho, known in the area for its special herbal teas which are grown from local medicinal herbs. On the second night your accommodation is a homestay at Phin Ho where life remains simple and untouched by the modern influence of the outside world. The locals are friendly and welcoming, allowing a chance for travelers to better understand their practices and learn about life in the region.
