Wake up for a healthy breakfast, served each morning between 07.00 and 09.00. At around 09:30 you have the opportunity to join a short trek to Lijia village where you will have time to explore and get close to local life. The village is friendly and welcoming with green plantations in the streets. Continue to the Lijia cave where you can explore the inside. If you are lucky, you might find a few treasures. It is believed that Japanese soldiers left these treasures, including gold, in the area when they built the Death Railway during the World War II. Inside the cave it is quite dark and it is a good idea to bring a torch with you. Also be aware that it can be a bit slippery and it can be a little bit difficult to climb up to see the entire cave. But it is worth the effort! After your cave exploration and if time allows, you will visit the fisherman village.
When back on the Lake House, you will be served a nice Thai lunch. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy Lake House Living. Swim in the lake, do a bit of fishing, kayak the calm water or doze the afternoon away. As day turns into night, enjoy a delicious Thai dinner and watch the stars spark high up in the sky.
Overnight on the Lake House
In the morning, after your breakfast, you will sail to the Coconut Island – famous for a very particular type of coconut. Via our drag boat you will access the island and walk to the local houses and workers. They will take good care of you and you will be able to taste the sweet, salty flavour of the coconut water and bite into its delicious white flesh. You will also see tropical fruits such as jackfruit, cocoa and cashew nuts, and learn about a settlement with a unique ambience and story.
In the afternoon you will return to the boat and continue towards this nights’ anchoring spot. You will have time to kayak in between the steep cliffs. Your guide will organize a trip to one of the local villages. You will go there to experience rural life in this remote part of Thailand inhabited by ethnic groups such as the Mon and the Karen. Upon return, relax on the sundeck or in a hammock if time allows. The boat will slowly move up the lake until reaching our destination for the night. You will have the rest of the afternoon and evening to explore the fine scenery. Swim, kayak, do some fishing or just relax.
Overnight on the Lake House
It will be a slow morning embracing the fine scenery. Your guide will arrange a boat trip around the steep cliffs. You will also have time to jump in a kayak and see if you can spot some of the monkeys searching for food in treetops, a passing eagle or hornbills. Lunch will be served around noon on the boat. The Lake House will slowly move towards Sangkhlaburi.
In the afternoon you will visit a secret temple that only few locals know about. It is well hidden in the forest and has a rustic charm as it is now covered in trees and undergrowth. When returning to the Lake House you will visit a temple that has been covered under water. How much you will be able to see of the temple depends of the season and water level in the lake. We will anchor not far from Sangkhlaburi this night, do some fishing, kayak around the lake, or just relax and read a book the rest in the afternoon.

Enjoy a very early morning breakfast and prepare to disembark your floating hideaway at 09:00 latest. You need to pack all your bags and belongings, as it will be transported to a guesthouse while you are out exploring.
Then, as the early morning mist releases it grasp; you go by long-tail boat* up the river stream to a small village in the countryside where life is lived in peace with nature; as it has been done for the past hundreds of years. Start trekking along the river accompanied by the sound of whistling water and the grass neatly quirking below your feet. As a constant backdrop the majestic mountains follow you on your trail, walking through the tall grass and across the dusty plains. Then after about 5 kms of trekking you will find a soft spot along the riverbank. Where neatly tied bamboo rafts are waiting for you – to take you back downstream, back to village life. Sit back and enjoy nature slowly passing by or grab a bamboo stick and help navigate the raft safely down the stream.
